Shipping: We
will select either
United States Postal
Service (USPS) or United
Parcel Service (UPS) to
ship your package and
choose the carrier with
the better delivery
time. We do not
artificially inflate the
value of shipping to
increase our profit
margin. We used
value based rates based
on the pre-tax value of
your order. Our
rates are calculated
based upon our shipping
experience and the
average weights of our
products. If
actual shipping charges
are less than calculated
at checkout, we will
reduce the amount of
your charge. Likewise,
if actual shipping costs
exceed those stated on
your Order Summary, we
will contact you to
discuss your options. Every effort is made to
ship your product within
two (2) business days.
If products are on a
back order status, we
will contact you via
email with an
anticipated ship date.

Handling:
There is a flat handling
fee of $3.00 per retail
order ($4.00-$7.50 per
container for wholesale
accounts). This
fee is charged to offset
our costs for shipping
containers, bubble wrap,
peanuts, tissue, labels,
and tape.
Sales
Tax: North
Country Soaps ships from
New Hampshire and is not
required to withhold
sales tax on shipped
orders. It is the
obligation of the
customer to pay sales
tax to their state, if
required.
Security: North
Country Soaps is
committed to
safeguarding your credit
card information. We
have purchased a 128-bit
Entrust "Secured
Sockets Layer" (SSL)
Server Certificate. The
SSL encrypts the
information you provide
to us during checkout,
or when you provide
e-mail addresses. This
ensures that sensitive
information, e.g.,
credit card data, is not
exposed during checkout.
The use of 128-bit SSL
certificates has become
standard for e-commerce
enabled web sites or any
site that collects
private information form
users, including credit
card numbers, account
numbers or passwords.
The
credit card transaction
processing we have
chosen for
www.northcountrysoaps.com
is called "Email
Merchant Processing."
With this type of
transaction, after a
customer completes an
order, two e-mails are
generated. First, an
e-mail is automatically
sent to North Country
Soaps notifying us of
the order. Second, the
customer receives a
confirmation e-mail that
the order has been
generated. The e-mail
notification sent to
North Country Soaps DOES
NOT contain a credit
card number. It
contains a link to a
password protected,
secure site that is used
to retrieve the
encrypted credit card
information. Then,
North Country Soaps
personnel MANUALLY
verifies the credit card
information. This
process is identical to
how a store teller might
call a credit card
company to obtain
verification. The
customer is notified,
via e-mail, that the
order has been verified,
and is informed of
shipping costs and
delivery dates.
Your
credit card data is
encoded using a special
encryption algorithm
that scrambles credit
card numbers as they are
placed in the database.
Another algorithm is
used to decrypt the
credit card information
as the number is
retrieved for
verification. North
Country Soaps has a
policy of deleting
credit card numbers from
its database after an
order has been verified
and shipped. While this
procedure is actually
unnecessary (even if the
database security is
breached, the encrypted
credit card numbers
would be quite useless),
we believe it is good
practice to NOT maintain
this information in any
format.
Returns: North
Country Soaps absolutely
guarantees the
quality of its
merchandise. We do
recognize, however, that
when dealing with
natural products made
with natural
preservatives and
limited shelf lives,
products sometimes fail
to perform up to our
standards. If,
within 7 days of
purchase you are not
satisfied, please
contact us and we
will make every effort
to replace your product
or issue you a refund.
